Dennys Funny Quotes: Check Out Funny Business Names in Louisiana

Dennys Funny Quotes: Check Out Funny Business Names in Louisiana: From Denny:  Of the few local newspapers left in America - before they get gobbled up and homogenized by Big Business to turn a bigger profit - there are those small papers that still retain a local flavor.  Baton Rouge, Louisiana and The Advocate is one of them.

A local reporter by the name of Smiley Anders has been collecting and writing this funny column since 1979 when he first started in the business.  The public write in their true stories of funny situations that happened to them.  The public also pass on local Cajun jokes for good measure.

One day Smiley was calling out for readers to send in funny business names they have seen in their Louisiana communities.  Some of the names are downright odd and funny crazy.  Some business owners actually invested in these silly names!...

Dennys Funny Quotes: Comic Jimmy Kimmels Plan To Save The U.S. Post Office

Dennys Funny Quotes: Comic Jimmy Kimmels Plan To Save The U.S. Post Office: From Denny:  These are outrageous times.  To really save the post office and pull it out of huge debt is to start sending snail mail cards, letters and packages.  Really?

Well, yeah, that obvious tactic would work and is a sensible one. After all, the post office lost over $1 billion just in the last quarter of 2012 - and that included the holiday season of which they apparently did not get much of a share of the business.

But what debt answer would be a lot more creative and fun?  Comic Jimmy Kimmel has the answer.  He advocates the President legalize marijuana and then put the U.S. Post Office to be the only guys who can deliver it.  Outrageous?  Maybe, uh, hmmm.... it's actually a monopoly idea that would work!  Yay! Capitalism at work!  :)

Are you so ultra conservative Republican you resent your local Food Bank begging for help because it has empty shelves?  Figure said Food Bank doesn't need donations for half of the formerly wealthy struggling middle class now living in poverty?

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Holiday Ads: Crazy Target Lady Shopping Tips 1 - 3

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Holiday Ads: Crazy Target Lady Shopping Tips 1 - 3: From Denny: The Thanksgiving holiday was barely observed this year as desperate retailers - in a faltering economy - blasted the airwaves with some hilarious ads to get Americans to go shopping.

The comic, Maria Bamford, sports her Crazy Lady at Target character to entertain us. She sure had me laughing so much I went to YouTube to find all her funny ads for the holiday season. Be sure to check out her site too.

Dennys Funny Quotes: 16 Hilarious Photos, Signs to Keep You Wondering

Strange and Funny Warning Signs (29 pics)

Dennys Funny Quotes: 16 Hilarious Photos, Signs to Keep You Wondering: From Denny: From the witty to the absolutely stupid, check out these funny photos and outrageous signs. Yep, with the human race there is never a dull moment. I wonder when aliens land they will get our sense of humor. Can it be that we are the only ones in the universe with the ability to laugh?

What if the universe was peopled with dull people who never found anything funny? Look at it this way, Planet Earth will become the universal travel destination for cosmic tourists in need of a good laugh! Cosmic tourism, now that should help our global economy...

Jon Stewart Sneers At Debt Ceiling Talks: Nonfiction Captain America

From Denny: Jon Stewart taps into American anger at our politicians for being so stupid about these debt ceiling talks. They all are still politically posturing while the public will be the ones to be the ultimate losers - except come election day when we all get to "throw the bums out."

The Republicans are naked in their exposure for propping up the wealthy at the expense of the middle class, the elderly and the poor. The GOP is held hostage by the Tea Party conservatives who are adamant to implode our economy and the global village along with us.

The Democrats can't seem to rein in their idiot Centrists under Steny Hoyer dumb enough to vote for Republican proposals. President Obama probably wants to quit the job and move off world after dealing with these greedy fools.

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Jon Stewart Mocks The Hot Summer Weather

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Jon Stewart Mocks The Hot Summer Weather: "From Denny: Stewart enjoys mocking the hot weather as much as he enjoys mocking Donald Trump eating New York pizza with - gasp! - a fork! How could he be so crass?

Jon has some fun showing news clips of reporters demonstrating how you can cook chocolate chip cookies on a car dashboard, cook eggs in a skillet in the hot sun and a pizza on a city sidewalk.

Of course, Jon's best comment about the hot summer weather: 'It's not global warming; it's God preheating America!'

And then there's Wyatt Cenac pretending to be a hard-charging weather reporter that is totally disgusting in his food choices. Discover this at your own peril. :)"

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Social Commentary Cartoons

Jerry Holbert

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Social Commentary Cartoons: "From Denny:  Enjoy these cartoons while they last. The wealthy cartoonists over at Comics.com have all banded together and no longer give embed codes to bloggers for their cartoons. That includes the political cartoonists too.

Sigh.  What!?  No more crazy Palin cartoons or Gingrich.  I might be suffering from cartoons withdrawal soon.  Hopefully, these cartoonists will continue to enable the previous codes like these cartoons.

I guess this can only mean one thing: It's time for me (and you) to learn how to cartoon and do my (our) own silly cartoons. I mean, who has a corner on laughter anyway? We all deserve the right to smiles."

Friday Lite: Best Of Funny TSA Cartoons - 26 Nov 2010

Check out what America is thinking about those TSA Pat Downs supposedly guarding us against terrorism.

From Denny: Ready to laugh? The cartoonists have had a field day with the missteps of our government and especially the TSA public insensitivity promoting their idiot policies. Americans are growing more and more uncomfortable and angry about these policies.

Just this month the Pilots Association declared the airport scanners as unsafe and got exemptions for their pilots and airline crews to completely bypass security checkpoints. Our government leaders also do not have to be subjected to the security protocols either. So now passengers have to wonder a lot more than about the people riding next to them. They have to wonder about whether or not the pilot, the crew and government leaders were compromised by terrorists.

Yeah, and these are the Bozos who are determining our national security. Sweet, huh? What kind of reasoning is this? If the airport scanners are unhealthy and unsafe then no one should be going through them.  Meanwhile, the nation's cartoonists are lampooning these idiot decisions and arrogant promotions of this unsafe technology - knowing there is someone is the shadows making wads of cash from the sale of these airport scanners to the government.  Big Business continues to run wild, unchecked by any restraints of reason or common sense.

The truth is that the TSA has never succeeded in catching any of the terrorists. Who did? Ordinary citizens keeping their eyes open and their minds thinking. Just to mention a couple of news items: The shoe bomber was stopped by a quick-thinking passenger who foiled the plot - as the airline attendant was still questioning the man while he attempted to strike the bomb. A street vendor in New York City spotted the suspicious van loaded with a bomb in front of Toys 'R' Us store for children and called police. The list goes on.

The TSA policies are literally overkill and violate civil rights and public health.  The only tested and proven most effective method of airport security is to get serious about proper profiling like the Israelis employ.  They manage to do it without racial profiling.  There is no reason we cannot do the same.

France got rid of their backscatter airport scanners because of public outrage and concern over public health.  They installed scanners that employ radio waves to detect if anyone needs additional screening.  These scanners do not threaten your health nor invade your personal privacy.  Why can't America employ these machines instead of the invasive radiating ones?

Check out how the TSA and the airport security checks are quickly becoming part of the national culture for humorists:

Posts Roundup at Dennys Blogs - 5 Oct 2010

Check out news, political opinion, political humor and funny cartoons, recipes, poetry, funny posts, photography, spiritual thoughts and great quotes.

From Denny: All this weekend - and early this week - I've had the usual case of "Fall Fever." Who really wants to stay inside after a dreadful summer of weirdly high heat and humidity? When Louisiana weather calms down to cooler temperatures at night and low humidity during the day it's, well, irresistible. And the blogging just had to wait this weekend.

It was also a case of cleaning up all the overgrown "everything" in the flower beds since it's been several months - when it was so hot and humid medical professionals were telling everyone it was too hard on your heart to be out in the heat doing hard workouts.

Anyway, my crazy plants thank you for your patience. They now have newly planted homes since there were so many of them multiplying they had to move out from their parents' homes and into new places in the yard. Purple irises love to spread the love.

Chocolate Mint has pink trumpet flowers Photo by Denny Lyon

The party down plants are the chocolate mint. They are indestructible - whether it's flooding rain waters or drought - these crazy plants just keep on thriving! I'm wondering if they are the comedians of the plant kingdom.

What's nice about chocolate mint is that hummingbirds love them as much as those fat bumblebees. When pollinating insects were rare the past couple of years, well, it must have been because they were all partying over in my yard.

Try crushing the leaves of the chocolate mint in your hands and you get this light chocolate scent wafting up into the breeze along with a faint mint companion. You can even cut back chocolate mint and treat it like a low growing shrub or let it go hog wild and it looks like a two foot tall grass. Definitely a cool plant.

I've come to the conclusion that all artists must be gardeners. It's just such an irresistible canvas to play with and shift and change at will. Of course, the mud factor is definitely appealing too. :)

Included here are links from the past couple of weeks and some popular posts too - especially recipes. Lots of humor to keep you de-stressed and laughing!  Make sure to check out the new convenient Google Blogger gadgets on the blogs that feature the most recent posts and the most popular posts.

From Denny: It's been a wild ride changing internet providers and I was off line for 10 days. I tell ya when you slow down to snail time it takes a while to gear back up to a fast pace. So, rather than try to catch up I've decided to round up what there is and not sweat what there isn't. Gee, can you tell I absorbed "Greek Time" when I visited Santorini several years ago? Greek Time is extremely slow, unhurried and a definite "I'll get around to it" attitude. :)

Roundup of Late Night Funnies - 23 Aug 2010

*** Check out the latest jokes from late night comics this week, along with some of the most current cartoons and LOL funniest videos from the likes of Colbert and Stewart.

From Denny: It seems every time you turn on the TV news there is a revolting story about how bed bugs have suddenly multiplied 500 percent, ravaging Americans all across the country. Bed bugs are chomping on people at home, at restaurants, at hotels and second hand furniture stores. That will teach you to do dumpster diving for free furniture.

Of course, those of us who live in the South are experts on pest control compared to our Northern cousins who are downright neophytes. The truth is we cheer our local pest control guys as much as our football teams. It's the key to our success of being bed bug free. Try it sometime. It really works.

Enjoy some of the funniest video clips of late from the crazy minds of Colbert and Stewart.

From Jimmy Kimmel:

President Obama was in Hollywood for a star-studded fundraiser. They raised a million dollars and converted him to Scientology.

The president's security left traffic in Los Angeles paralyzed. It took some people two hours to get home from work, when it usually only takes 96 minutes.

I don't understand why the president has to drive. He could just flap his ears and fly anywhere.

From Denny: I tell ya, this summer heat index of 116 degrees Fahrenheit, along with the WikiLeaks nutjob child who thinks he's stalking me on this blog, you know it's a full moon out tonight. This poor kid has scrambled eggs for brains, taking a second and third run at me.

Guess it's time to go ahead and do another WikiLeaks post to explain to him and his silly little friends living in some gaming fantasy world in their heads that real life is not a computer game. It's much more serious because the people who are stalking them are out for a lot more than winning their props as a gamer.

As far as posts go I did manage to find some interesting health and science news and had some fun with some photo posts too. Take a look.
